[RWP] Using Reaper on windows basics?

I meant others on the list at large may be better equipped to answer that than I, since the question was about the ninja KeyMap, it could be asked in a more general term regarding ReaAcccess to the list.

Short of loading the KeyMap file in reaper on windows, going through and manually editing all the ones that went screwy on the windows import and then exporting the file again i can’t think of a quicker way, and thats tedious work for something most probably wouldn’t use as they are content with ReaAccess. However if one choose to add some of the custom Ninja KeyMaps to windows the Getting started page does explain how to add your own KeyMappings, so feel free to go through the hot key list and add away. Though some are custom actions you would have to create first.

The quick start guide does explain how to move by measure and beat for both ReaAccess and the Ninja KeyMap. Measures and beats are based on the tempo of the project and every project has a default tempo of 120 Beats per minute. This means for every minute of recording thee is 120 beats or 30 measures of 4 beats each. So even if yo only have a vocal track its still recorded with in that 120 BPM tempo if you never changed it. There for using the hot keys to move by beats or measures will still work.

Even if your laptop keyboard doesn’t have a page up and down key, chances are the FN key along with up and down arrows or left and right arrows will work as page up and page down. Alternatively USB full sized keyboards are inexpensive enough that one may be a worth while purchase to have dedicated page up and down keys. Otherwise as i said, look at the getting started page to see how to assign hotkeys to actions in reaper.

left and right arrow keys on their own does the same in reaper on the mac and windows, they scrub. This means they move through your audio in extremely small increments . Its a great way to get right up to a start point or end point for tight edits.

> What does the left and right arrow keys do on windows currently? I would like to map my own keys on my laptop, but I don't want to totally destroy the key mappings as they are now. For example, I don't have a "page up" on my computer, so I'd have to use a ctrl + left or something for that command.

I need to boot up windows and do a proper translation of the keycap… The reason i haven’t is because on windows there is ReaAccess for the blind community so there was no real need for the Keymap on windows.

>>> 3. When adding a track, how can I hear what the synth sounds like before I insert the track? Because there are a lot of different synths and it takes a very long time to hit ctrl applications, i, arrow through to the synth I want, hit enter, tab over to "add", hit enter, and then test it, hit delete to remove it and start all over.

>> In the column before the list of all the effects you can sort by what you want to see. its on all by default. Shift tab once from the list of effects over to the other column and chang it to just VST or something like that to see just effects when you tab back into the effects list. As tara s unlabeled areas on windows not sure but think windows has some way of labeling and pulling data from the help tags (if there are any) depending on which screen reader you are using. On the mac if you can see the unlabeled button with voice over you can label it if you can have some eyes tell you what the button is. If y the button has whelp tag then you can have VoiceOver speak the help tag and then use that to label the button.
