[RWP] Impulse cabinet responses

Yay, glad it's at least half working.

Ah, I kind of misunderstood the stage of the creative process you were
aiming to use this for. What gear are you recording with? Reason I ask
is that this method of using IRs usually performs pretty badly here
when I monitor it in real-time. It's more the sort of thing that's
useful to apply after you've recorded when you're sculpting the guitar
sound in a mix. I think there are impulse loaders that do a better job
of the real-time stuff than ReaVerb if that's what you need, but
someone else would have to chime in and suggest an accessible option
because I haven't gone beyond ReaVerb with this. For tracking in
real-time, I usually go with a sound I'm happy with from TH-2 or more
recently the Kuassa plugs, then I focus on the cab impulses after
during the mix.

As for your second question, if it's metal tones you're shooting for,
pretty much everyone playing that genre nowadays puts some flavour of
drive in the signal chain before the guitar hits their preamp when
using real gear. There are plenty of plugins out there that emulate
the characteristics of those drive pedals. TSE Audio have a pretty
good Tube Screamer emulation that was free if I remember right, so
Google for a copy of that and put it before the amp sim. Just to be
certain I haven't confused you, you'll probably want to go guitar,
drive, amp sim, then cab impulse last.

Let us know how you get on
