Yes, my music PC has a SPDIF out.
I never used it, though.
If I plugged the TC Helicon pedal into the same computer's USB port,
would that audio come out the computer's SPDIF port?
I suppose it would.
Do I need to configure anything in the control panel for USB in to be
sent out SPDIF?
Okay, I'll try not enabling the TC Pedal anywhere in Reaper's
preferences, and, with a cable from the computer's SPDIF out to the eMu
16 16M's SPDIF, I should get the audio from the TC Helicon pedal
directly into the soundcard, no identification that it's coming from the
Helicon pedal; no excuse for the pedal to steal the soundcard's asio
driver.
As for a newer soundcard, I'll get one of the RME's when I win the
lottery, since its higher end models are the only ones with pristine
preAmps comparable to the 16 16m's.
Yes, I know the eMu cards are getting long in the tooth, but mine is the
latest one made, only a week before they were discontinued, with all
ceramic caps that never bloat and leak.
I have Win7 64 drivers, nothing for Win8 will ever appear from eMu.
I may still be using that same soundcard in 2040, with Win7, provided I
have the strength to push buttons and we still have electricity on this
planet.
Thanks,
Indi

Another option is to use XLR to 1/4 Balanced cables and use the balanced line in thus bypassing the PreAmps on the EMU. Or Sell the Emu and get something with nicer Pres. as that unit is a bit old these days.
