If you're trying to conserve hard drive space, maybe consider working
in a lossless format like flac instead of wave. Just a thought.
Time selection applies across all tracks by default. I know, it's a
weird workflow to get used to. If you want it to apply to one track,
then you need to work with items on that specific track. Probably the
simplest workflow for this is to set your start and end times with
Shift+Alt+[ and Shift+Alt}], then hit Shift+S to split an item based
on that time selection. Now, when you use CTRL_Left or CTRL+Right to
navigate to that item, anything you do will only apply to that piece
of audio on that specific track.
