[RWP] using Reaper with the BCF2000 control surface

Hi,
I recently purchased a BCF2000 and am planning on using it with Reaper.
I got it functioning last night with the MCU emulation mode using the
Klinke plug-in. I've read Brian Smart's notes on using Reaper with
this unit.
Is there any additional information on using this unit with Reaper?
I've looked at the reaper forums, but lots of the information such as
the layout of the controls seems fairly visual.
I'm assuming Surface Reader may help me a bit when learning this unit as well.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Also, there is an option in reaper to use the bcf2000 on preset 1.
What are the disadvantages to doing it this way
