The main good thing about sf zed is that it seems to do the best job of
converting soundfonts from multi-bank libraries.

But if I'm going to build one from scratch, I just do it by hand.

Someone on midimag has made a nice little tool for us to import samples
and do some of the basic grunt work for sfz construction, I also use a
vb script I modified to import samples with no opcodes, as I prefer to
define as many of them as I can in groups.
After learning sfz, I don't see why anyone would want to mess with
anything else for sample playback,
it's just so simple and elegant and straight forward, I remember
struggling in the 80s to use hardware samplers and trying to figure out
how to make things happen,
now sfz is the cat's meow.

Ive
made a bunch of instruments, and drumkits,
yes it's a bit time consuming, but anything worth while is.
