Hi there.
Rescanning and clearing the cache worked for bringing in the extra vst
plugins.

Hey Ken,
In Preferences/Editing or at least a category very close to that, you'll
find a checkbox that controls whether Reaper moves the insertion point to
the end of files when you insert them. Uncheck it, and it'll behave how
you'd like.
