[RWP] accessing presets with aas player?

Scot is a pretty good fellow who really has gotten far with reaper.

He was a student of mine learning sonar way back a few years ago and
decided he couldn't stand sonar's audio editing.

I too find reaper frustrating, but see the potential in it, so stick
around to learn about it's growth, but don't dare trust work to it yet,
too many holes.

for basic audio editing yes, but for all the fancy stuff i can do easily
in sonar, no, not yet.

I am going to have to get my teeth in to sws though, that's where the
real power in reaper is I think.

the problem is with reaper, it's kind of like comparing linux to windows
or mac,
it's so powerful and flexible but everything is all not put together for
you, you have to roll your own.
Most folks want to get about doing work now, and by far the easiest
path, but not the cheapiest route is sonar.
but I am hoping reaper grows up some day to be as easy to use as sonar,
but it's gonna take some highly skilled scripting, and mon;ley to pay
such scripter, or maybe someone will pick it up as a labor of love, but
people generally don't like to work for nothing.

Still, even though I am a sonar die hard, I find I can do things with
reaper I can't do with sonar easily,
like fixing up audio cross-fading and timing issues,
gluing stubborn audio together nicely,
that sort of stuff is so elegant in reaper, and a total pain in sonar.

Still things like midi and automation drive me to drink in reaper.

So like my young friend who will be nameless says,
wh;y does everything have to suck on all platforms, well,
it just does for us but us blind folks have to cowboy up and make our
way the best we can, and when we can, pay people to teach us, program
for us, and hopoe enough people jump on the reaper bandwagon to make it
better.

i bitch a lot about reaper, and make people mad when I do, but I believe
in this little upstart daw, and I think and hope nad pray it will get
better eventually.

All it takes is one giant brain like well, for instance, Jim Snowbarger,
no, I'm not pointing my finger at him, just usin an example to fall in
love with it, well, like vic did with sonar, and look what he did with j
sonar?

So it could happen with reaper.

meanwhile, the reaper developers aren't totally oblivious to our cries
of pain, they seem to be slowly making things better, so I'm trying to
stay possitive and constructive, and make myself use rfeaper when I have
time.

Trouble is I'm old and cranky,
and it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks when the old tricks work
fine and make money, and I am a died in the wool sonar head,
and midi is hugely important to me, and
there just aren't some equivalents in reaper I have in sonar.

But I like both fine tools for different reasons, and will continue to
lurk here, and learn.

I wish you luck, and be patient,
if you want a already done deal, go do sonar, if you want to take the
time and maybe learn a bit here and a bit there,
and eventually get up to speed with reaper, then hang around and let's
listen to the couple or 3 hotshots around here who figured it all out
mostly and are getting on 'grin'.
