[RWP] Reaper for Streaming Audio?

It's easy to make Reaper record any audio that's playing on your
computer; in .wav; or any of its lossless formats; in 24 bits, up to
96k, if you like.
In my case I shut off my eMu soundcard that I ordinarily record music
on, go to preferences audio device and set the driver to wave out, set
to 24 bits 44.1k, which is what I have the USB soundcard I use for
speech set to.
In other words it now will record output from my USB soundcard Iuse for
speech and YouTubes.
I arm the track for recording, set the record to input, with both record
monitor and monitor item off.
In the extended recording options menu brought up with the applications
key I set the input to stereo output, which brings up a submenu where I
click on left and right channel.
Those refer to the USB soundcard's left and right channels.
I could record 7 channel surround if I configured the USB card for that.
When I hit R to record and mess around with NVDA's screen review keys,
then stop recording and play I hear that speech.
I would hear a YouTube's audio if one had been playing.
But, the volume is way too low.
I don't know why I'm getting such a low recording volume, way lower than
I hear my speech or a YouTube directly.
If I use Direct Out in audio preferences, instead of Wave out, the
recording level on playback is even lower.
Do you know a solution other than just shoving the recording track's
volume level way up when recording?
Am I missing some subtler routing I should be doing??
Thanks,
Indi
