Those are asio buffer sizes.

The derault is 256, you will notice a bit of latency there but is pretty safe for almost all computers that can even pretend to run a daw.

The lowest you want to set if your running at 96k is 64, the 32 is for when you want very low latency with 44.1

I usually set mine to 128,
and usually record at 44.1 24 bit.

I can run very heavy loads at 128, I can usually run at 64, but 128 gives you just a bit of safety and more breathing room, even on a very powerful machine.

Subject: [RWP] Mackie Onyx Buffer Settings

Hi & Greetings from The Land Down Under...

I see it was one of us Aussies, that helped you Americans retain the Americas Cup...*smile*

I also noted that there were a few Aussies on the New Zealand yacht as well...*chuckle*...

  Anyway to business...

For those amongst us who own a Mackie Onyx desk, I seem to be having some problems with audio scratches and noise, and I am sure it is to do with my buffer and related settings.

The audio is extremely responsive to Play, Stop etc, but sometimes when playing small crackles occur or tiny noises....Not all the time, but it is noticeable, and it is getting on my nerves.

I have read about Buffer Settings etc, and I thought I knew what I was doing, but obviously not... so I was wondering what your settings look like.

When I look at the ASIO Configuration dialog, there is a TAB for the Audio Driver, and there is a drop down box in here with various numbers such as 16, 32, 64, 128, 256 etc, but SA does not give any feedback as to what these numbers refer / relate to?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

  My thanx...
