You can assign sends and returns by pressing the letter I while on a track.
Tab down the choices and when you get to sends or returns, use your 
arrow keys to assign the send or return to whatever track you want.
If you assign something and change your mind, you may need to use your 
numberPad cursor to find the delete button, then left click delete.
