Hey, in short, its not that easily accessible but depending on how you want 
to use it you can get around it just fine for certain things.

My UFX is the hub of my pro studio, but I use it in combination with a 
Behringer BCF 2000 and various outboard pre-amps etc.

The Macki onnyx units are definitely the most accessible solutions out 
there, but if you don't mind memorising stuff, figuring things out for 
yourself and some awkwardness the RME is workable again depending on what 
you want to do.

The actual effects on the RME UFX aren't accessible and neither are its 
direct recording features etc.
