Hello,
I got the file and had a play and think i know whats up. First off this isn't a loop. it's a single hit and not *tempo marked* like *real loops* should be. I also understand what you are attempting to do and you are just getting thrown about has reaper has a slightly different method of trimming.
1) Move cursor to beat one and import loop. Believe you said you said you wanted it on Measure 5 beat 1. So import the loop there.
2) Since the a single hit thats should only last for one measure do this. Make a start point at measure 5 beat 1 and send point at measure 5 beat 2 and select between those end points.
3) under the item menu, select trim to selection.
4) Under the item menu select glue item.
Now when you copy that selection, you should be able to paste it half way between measure 2 and 3 like you wanted with out the issue were having previously.

How can I cut out the rest after the first beet of the first measure? The loop is lasting 2.5 beets and I only need one beet.
