Hi Rainer,
There's no entry into the registry required to use Reaper.
Did you enable your Motif as the midi device in Preferences/midi device?
First, you enable the RealTech as the audio device, in preferences/audio
device, ctrl+P; then arrow up to audio.
You won't hear anything without enabling the RealTech; until you get a
better soundcard.
Then in preferences/midi device, find the name Yamaha Motif with
Disabled after it; route that name over to your number pad cursor; right
click it there; which brings up the configuration dialog.
Now, place a checkmark on both enable as a midi device and enable for
midi control.
Now, tab down to OK and press enter on OK.
Your Motif should now play a soft synth.
You can download free synths, you can run any amazing synths, like
Massive, Firebird, Gladiator, on and on.
But, without a good soundcard, you'll get too much delay after you press
a Motif key.
Also, if you feed the Motif's sounds into the line in of the RealTech,
there will be latency delay in the audio as well as the midi sent from
the Motif.
I do my actual work with Reaper in XP, offline, but I keep Reaper x64
and NVDA in this online computer only to look at Reaper; to try to
answer questions.
Without reducing the size of buffers; my Realtech has over 400
milliseconds latency
You might reduce the RealTech's latency with asio4all as a midi driver,
but it's just wasting time when only a proper soundcard will provide low
latency.
Hope this helps,
Indi.
