[RWP] latency in reaper

Not familiar with that one, but my wife has a presonus audiobox usb which is
pretty nice, and I have heard the roland units duo tri and quad capture were
decent.

YOur not going to get much better than 10 ms with any usb device, reported
latency may say lower, but hidden safety buffers in the driver have to be
considered.

And usb by it's very nature is the worst choice for audio.

The lexicon alpha is the cheapest, and Patrick says he gets good results
with it as long as he runs it all balanced cables, but the pres are nothing
wonderful.

The pres on the presonus are decent, it runs about 150 bucks.

And its
control pannel is accessible but I noticed on w7 the other day, couldn't get
at the latency slider with nvda.

If you want to spend a little more money and go firewire, you can't go wrong
with any of the mackie onyx i series board interfaces, I just love these and
own the 1640i but the 820 clocks in at 400 bucks and offers a lot of routing
and flexibility and one knob or switch per control and no inaccessible
control pannel, they couldn't have done better if it was purposely made for
us.

Anyway, that's more board than you want though.

I'd try the rolands if I were in your shoes.

They made decent gear, and I used to like m-audio stuff, but now I'd stay
away from avid products,
they don't seem to be doing so well lately.
