[RWP] latency in reaper

I think your right lol.
I tend to use reaper mostly for mixing and some editing and basic single
track recording etc...obviously mostly because of the issue being discussed.
So, maybe everyone can pitch in here and recommend an audio interface?
There are so many models on the market now with the explosion of home based
recording that sometimes it's hard to know what to get.
I am pretty versed in most of the multi-track firewire and some USB
interfaces, but as for the simpler cheaper basic, but good quality models
I'm not so sure.
The lexicon alpha was mentioned.
What others might I look at?
I don't need multi-track, that is, multi input/output with onboard preamps
and digital in/out etc. I will eventually get something like that, but for
now, I want something pretty simple and basic.
Also, I would prefer something that is USB based so I can easily switch it
between computers etc...I don't have firewire on the netbook or the desktop
and I don't really want to invest in any firewire cards etc.
Has anyone used the allen and Heath z10 unit with USB? I am aware it's
limited, but I wonder if it plays well with asio and if it would handle my
current basic needs? I ask because I have access to one (it's a rental
being used for a practice PA) and I can easily bring it home and use it.
Just a shot in the dark as it may well not be what I need.
Regards
Colin
