[RWP] automation

Something must have got corrupted in the Reaper x86 version 4.4402 I
keep on this machine, only for reference, so I reverted it back to
factory specs and uninstalled and reinstalled it, just to be 150 percent
certain.
Now it loads the plugsit wouldn't before, and write and read automation
work as expected from alt+up/down arrows.
When you tried alt+up or down, did you try standing on the up down arrow
to get quick changes
I mean it's not super quick, but it's at least as fast a slope for
fadeout as anybody would ordinarily use for a fadeout or fade in.
In a couple of seconds I'm getting up around plus 20 and 30db, same with
holding the down arrow..
I didn't time it, but I could probably get to silence around minus 70db
in five or six seconds, maybe less.
I had the same experience here as others, I couldn't tell that read mode
was recording anything.
Touch mode also didn't seem to record.
I wasn't totally certain about latch mode; once I thought it did, then I
couldn't replicate that.
Next time I'll try touch and latch, then look at undo to learn if it's
saying undo automation?
Maybe touch and latch are recording, but the recorded envelope is not
playing back, because of some setting I don't know about.
Also, for some reason the clear envelope points and other useful actions
in track view/envelope subMenu are disabled.
I couldn't find any way to enable them.
I ran a clear envelope points action directly from the actions list, no joy.
Yes, no need to activate volume in the envelope subMenu, it's
automatically activated when you use alt+up arrow.
Even standing on the button, , no way that clunky alt+up arrow is gonna
be a tenth as agile as even the simplest fader on any old piece of gear.
It's that old common sense sales pitch they use to sell you a control
surface, would you rather crunch numbers or get real world hands on
control of your music?
