[RWP] I'm having trouble with latency and reaper

That's the same keyboard plus control surface you have as my Edirol
PCR-300, only with slightly different controls and you have 61 keys
instead of the 32 the PCR-300 has.
My Edirol PCR-300 works beautifully with Reaper, through a USB cable;
with very low latency from the Edirol USB midi driver.
It also had very low latency when connected with midi cables, but I
prefer USB connection.
Your A Pro driver will be the same, only with a Roland or CakeWalk name
on it; instead of Edirol.
Did you install the entire driver and editor package that came on CD
with your keyboard, or, better than that, did you go to Roland and make
sure you downloaded and installed all required drivers
I seem to remember it's just the USB/midi driver, plus the editor
application.
I haven't tried using my similar keyboard plus control surface along
with a RealTech built-in soundcard, so I don't know how much latency it
would have with that combination, but I would think that the midi
keyboard would have almost no latency, but audio from a microphone into
the RealTech soundcard would have too much latency.
Maybe the slow RealTech screws up the A Pro's midi driver somehow, I
can't guess what the combination of those would do.
You'll never be totally happy, though, until you get a good soundcard.
Sorry,
Indi
