[RWP] autotuning in reaper?

Chris,  I got ten crusty, crotchity years on ya. <grin>

I bet you can't hire a decent programmer for less than 100 dollars an hour 
for a major project, unless they are really hungry.
And really good ones, aren't.  You can only do  a limited amount of 
programming in a day.
For 800 bucks, I come and spend the day with you.
Ok, maybe two, if I like you, depending on what version of reaper your 
actually running..

But real programming, not just tweaking, is exceedingly time consuming.  so, 
you need somebody who takes a personal interest in the project, who will 
make it their religion.

Remember,  I work as a programmer, so I know something about that.  It's my 
job.

Just thinking back on it,  at those rates,  my investment in HotSpotClicker, 
over the life time of the product, is in the hundreds of thousands of 
dollars.  If I hadn't made it a personal cause, it never would have gotten 
done.
If all 500 users had donated 50 bucks a piece,  I would have recovered 2% of 
my cost.

So, religion, not money is probably how things will get done in the new lean 
ecomomy.

What made me make this sobering speculation about the unintended 
consequences of free screen readers in the first place was that I depend on 
a top notch screen reader to do my work.  Not just one that works pretty 
good, but one with lots of tools.  (I do not use recent versions of jaws, 
for good reason). I am deeply concerned about that tool being dependent on 
somebody else's volunteerism.   And, the inability to make money on your 
screen reader product means you can't hire the really top notch talent, and 
you get declining quality.
Really sharp, talented and personally dedicated volunteers are extremely 
rare people.
Meanwhile, the volunteer competition is perhaps being staffed by people who 
don't need to make a proffit, and might even be eating courtesy of their 
government.  I am not specifically alleging that about NVDA.  I don't know 
about that..
But, In part, that might be what's going on with the industry at large.

I think the whole internet is way too like let's not be human beings and put
everything in to little boxes separated from each other.

Well, the world don't work that way.

Perhaps I'm ruined by midimag whoch goes all everywhere, and yes we need
guidelines, but this whole technology gig is about all of us and everything
we use, so I personally don't mind talking about it anywhere.

But Jim and me are old hellions, he's nicer and probably doesn't blow up
lists as often as I do, and a respectable fellow but I don't care, I'm
turning 50 this saturday and if someone gets mad at me for something I said,
well, if their talking about me, it gives someone else a break.

These blind folks need something else to bitch about right ha ha?

Anyway, we are indeed in a time of transition, and it'll be interesting to
see where we land.

Have you ever thought of the economic impact that the rush to embrace the
free NVDA will have on the
for-proffit screen reader companies?  And, how the death of those companies
might impact us?

I used GSnap with Window-Eyes in 32 bits.
I suppose bridge intends to somehow bridge something to 64 bit windows 7.
What did you do when bridge came up?
Would none of it talk?
Did you try route to focus numPad insert and the numpad -minus key?
Did you try numPad insert and the 7 key?
Sorry, NVDA doesn't cover everything, unfortunately.
What's accessible in Wineyes or Jaws may not be, and vice versa.
