[RWP] "selected area of items" no longer works any one know what could be wrong?

It seems the standard cut and copy commands; ctrl+x and ctrl+c don't 
apply to a time selection within an item; but only to an entire item.
How are you making your time selection?
Are you using alt+left bracket beginning of loop point/time selection; 
and alt+right bracket end of loop point/time selection; or do you know 
another shortcut?
Maybe you can cut or copy time selected area of an item with 
ctrl+shift+x and ctrl+shift+C; smart cut and smart copy.
You could try those.

Actually, if you select the loop start and end points within an item 
with alt+[left bracket and alt+]right bracket  you can use the standard 
Reaper shortcut ctrl+alt+l to copy a loop of a selected area within an item.
I can't find the standard Reaper shortcut to paste that loop of a 
selected area within an item, not so far; but if there's a copy I assume 
there must also be a related paste command.
Reaper action 577 is Duplicate Selected Area of items, with no shortcut 
assigned.
I guess that could let you paste the selected area, if you assign it a 
shortcut, maybe ctrl+alt+V would be convenient, but that shortcut 
currently says something about video; which might be of not much use.
