[RWP] Item Recording and Step Recording

Hello!

I have two questions about recording.
1. When I have recorded one item in Reaper on a track and I want to have 
another item on the same track, but not with causing the first item to 
be overwritten, what option or menuentry do I have to chose?

2. In the Midi editor I found the entries "Use F1-F12 for step 
recording", which is not available, and "Use all midi devices for step 
recording", which I could activate. Does anyone know about this feature 
or could tell me a god manual to read about?
