Oriol, did you get Reaper going and configured to your midi keyboard and
sound card?
Okay, then adding effects is fairly easy.
Make sure to install or paste third party effects into a folder that
Reaper can find.
I use C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins\
and typed exactly that into the field provided in options/VST plugs.
Then you must press apply and OK.
Reaper will rescan that folder each time it is opened, but if Reaper
doesn't find a third party plug, go to options/VST plugs and force a
rescan by clicking on Clear cache and Rescan.
Okay, if you have a music track you want to apply an effect to, it's as
easy as selecting the music track with up/down arrow keys in track view;
then pressing the letter F.
You'll get the effect load dialog.
Navigate at your tab and arrow keys to the folder where the desired
effect plug is located; then press enter on the plug's name and it loads.
This method can automatically place the effects plug onto the same music
track; and set up a send from your track in track view to the effect, so
you can hear changes in the plug's parameters as you make changes in the
effects routing view; which you reached with the letter F.
Actually, I prefer to insert a second track for the plug to sit on, with
ctrl+T.
Then I select the new track; press F; and load the plug in effects
routing view.
Then with the plug's track selected with up/down arrows; I press the
letter I for the IO dialog, where you manually assign sends and receives
from the music track to the effects plug.
It's all much easier than it seems when expressed in words.
