I tried the enable midi device moves in Jaws, Wineyes and N V D A, all
screenreaders I had available, and it's about the same.
Basically, you get on the line with your device name and Disabled after
it; then route focus over to your Number Pad, called Route to PC cursor;
Route to Focus in NVDA; whatever.
Then you find that name of your device at the number pad and right click
on it at the numPad.
The configuration dialog pops up.
Left click on configure... go to tab key and arrows; and place
checkmarks with your spaceBar on use as midi device; or use as midi
controller, or both.
Tab down to OK; hit enter and return to track view.
I think this enabling as midi device is the trickyest thing about
setting up in Reaper, because it's counterintuitive.
You should be able to just hit enter on disable and it would change to
enable, but it's only needed once per device.
Luckily Reaper remembers.
When my Trigger Finger drum pad is plugged into USB its name and enabled
shows in Reaper midi devices , when the Trigger Finger is unplugged, its
name disappears, but it's remembered next time I plug it in.
