Patrick:
When you want to use a device as a control surface, you need to enable it
only for control. Unfortunately the only way I've been able to do that is
to right the mouse to the input field in the control surafe dialog and right
click, which brings up the menu where you enable the input or enable it only
for control.

Subject: [RWP] Configuring Reaper with Korg Nanokontrol2 control surface

Hi all:

I just got a Korg Nanokontrol2, and I'm trying to get it set up to
control tracks, transport, etc. with Reaper. I have successfully used it
to assign controls to effects parameters, but I can't figure out how
you're supposed to assign a newly added control surface to a set of
ports. I've put the Nanokontrol in Sonar mode, I.E. Mackie Universal,
and added the Mackie Universal control surface in preferences/control
surfaces, enabled input for control surfaces for the NanoKontrol midi
port, but... now what? I'm sure I'm missing something extremely obvious
here. There is nothing in the control surface dialogue to suggest that
any given control surface can be assigned to a port, only the type of
control surface can be selected.
