Yes indeed,  it is a pretty powerful program, but definitely more available to programmer types.
The same thing can be said about JAWS script.  But, what I did with HSC, is bundle together the relevant pieces of jaws script, and present it in a different way, which let non-programmers make better use of it.
You could do likewise with AHK.
And, if you were a programmer, and had a arm full of David P's 48 hour days,  a pretty big arm load, something I definitely do not have at this point, you could implement the essence of HSC using AHK, rather than JAWS script.  You would have the wizards, and everything, and it could read .hsc files, so hotspots already defined, and presently only usable with jaws could be loaded into the AHK version of HSC, and away you would go.   I suspect though, that your system tray would be full of the necessary AHK threads required to do that, especially if you  were wanting automatic set switching..
Most things are there in AHK land to support such a project.  Things that might not be there, such as the ability to acquire chunks of text from the screen.  I don't remember seeing that in AHK.  So, if that's true, not all modes of hotSpots could be supported.  But, with many of the pluggins, there isn't any screen textanyway.  So, it's a color thing, and AHK can do that just fine.
Anyway,  just idly dreaming for now.

  So you and people like me to a lesser extent tend to dig for this stuff, but most folks won't read the docs, or just want to use a wizzard like your hsc stuff and get things done.

  But yes, that's one reason I love ahk, you can read files and get stuff out of them and express them as variables,
  and all sorts of cool stuff.

  It's almost like a real programming environment.

    How long will it be before somebody realizes that AHK scripts can read INI style files, and can position the mouse according to information they find there, such as expressed in a hotspot definition originally produced by HSC.
