Jim,
So, when you get the message handle of current track view is not found;
then the correct menu comes up, did you first apply the classic
default 3.0 theme?
This is the first theme, or skin, I ever applied, other than choosing
Classic skin in WinAmp.
I always thought applying anything other than the default skin would add
an additional layer between the screenreader and the application, so
avoided skins.
However, now that I applied the classic default 3.0 theme to this 64 bit
Windows 7 Reaper version4.32, and also to my 32 bit XP daw's Reaper
4.32; I can't get the applications key to ever fail to bring up the
Monitor Items menu.
Both in Wineyes and NVDA; I no longer hear handle of current track view
is not found.
Actually, it works in every situation I've put it in; only a single
empty track inserted, to multiple tracks with plenty of effects loaded,
though Screwing around, going to actions list, playing with unused
actions; creating new shortcuts for actions, only then would I sometimes
go back to track view and the applications key would say and do
absolutely nothing.
I just pressed alt+F4 to clear whatever was in the way, and the
applications key works flawlessly again.
After changing themes; I also got the additional benefit of having the
alt key always drop the regular file, edit, view, etcetera menus, as it
is supposed to, a standard Microsoft thing; I think; since way bac at
Windows 3.1.
Ssince Reaper 4, sometimes alt would drop the menus, sometimes I'd need
to press F10, which always works.
When I first discovered that I got the Monitor Item menu with only the
applications key, I thought that I had discovered how to focus onto the
same arm button sighted users right mouse click on to get that same menu
to display, but I realize you are right, focus has nothing to do with
what I'm getting now.
I conclude it's due to changing theme.
Changing themes; though; did nothing to fix the broken ReaAccess
shortcut; ctrl+enter; to display the inline midi editor.
I still hear whatever that message is; Can't open editor.
I couldn't care less, David Shortland's discovery of ctrl+alt+E to
display the onboard midi editor, then alt+V for the view menu; then
selecting Mode Item List; is an infinitely better method
I think it provides a more intuitive display of notes and items for
editing, plus; in the onboard midi editor; a press of Q brings up the
quantize dialog, and you can change the grid settings, sometimes called
quantize amount, from the manual tab in that same quantize dialog.
