[RWP] Issues with adding effects and selection

I have no problems editing most items now that I realize I always need
to select the particular item before editing it, like nudging it left or
right, setting its length, etcetera.
There is a dialog that lets you set how much to nudge, the nudge
increment, I think it's called.
I sometimes do have a problem with selecting just the particular item I
want to delete, after I split an item into item 1 and item 2.
ctrl+right arrow seems to want to select 2 items, so I need to jockey
back and forth a bit until I hear 1 item selected, and it's the one I
want to delete.
shift+a, however always seems to select both items, and I can't get just
one split item selected with shift+A.
I'm not quite sure what shift+A is actually useful for.

as for a plug's gneric interface, I use only the native interface, I
don't believe I can find buttons to change or load presets from the
generic interface.
I know generic interface is said to lower cPU load, but I can't use what
I've learned about certain plug's native interfaces.
Thanks,
Indi
