Indi, some more things...

You can use the MPC software also as a virtual instrument. But I guess that
the frontend will not be more accessible. However, I am not familiar with
VST commands if there is a way to remotely control the plugins. Maybe there
is some, then the MPC should be accessible. However, the MPC software is a
full featured DAW. So if you use it as a plugin, you have a DAW in the DAW.
If you think about using it as a rhythm machine, there were maybe other
alternatives.

By myself I was thinking also to buy the NI Maschine. But the MPC controller
with the hardware interface is a benefit. Also the interface looks more
professional with knobs, pads and the larger display. The Maschine is quite
good, but not as professional I think. I was on Musikmesse and there my
cousin told me about his Maschine and I saw some controllers. You may
remember that I was not really a friend of computer base music. So the
Maschine and much other software with controllers are mostly used by the
mouse. The Maschine much less, but I guess not as less as the MPC is. AKAI
does to create a controller which can control nearly all features of the
software. But this might be on Maschine as well. But with the MPC Ren, I
switch on the bux, start the software and forget that I have a computer.
That's really nice and something on which I never thought about but I love
this workflow.

I hope that in Reaper I can do many things like the MPC, but I don't have
the knowledge if I can load samples or build loops or so. On my Ultrabook I
use on the road a AKAI MPKmini controller and have also installed the MPC
software. But the MPC controller is too large to carry with. It's nearly a
half desktop full of chassis. ;-)

Stephan, have you used the MPC without sight?

Those are very interesting to me, especially now that they finally got
24 bit samples, but I haven't met any blind users of the Akai MPC.

I have wanted to buy the Native Instruments Maschine, but think it may be
not so easy to run without being able to constantly look at the screen.
I know for certain that some selections in Maschine must be made from the
screen, such as browsing to samples to load them I don't think I could even
get samples loaded onto pads.
How much do you need to do in the Akai MPC that would be easier with sight,
or is it also impossible without seeing?
