ah ok,  now when I've imported them for some reason they won't play.

  You really don't want to edit mp3s,
  you can import them just like a wav file, but when you render them back you are rendering a lossy format and you will loose quality.

  But the answer is yes, if you really want to.

        hello everyone, I'm a new user to reaper, and wanted to know is there a way to edit mp3 files in reaper?  as I wanted to be able to apply different affects to them.
