[RWP] OSSC and AHK

I'm just guessing, but believe you just put an OSC file into Reaper's
folder; to interpret that hardware gear's output into real midi.
I don't know what programming language that Reaper generic.txt file for
setting up a joystick is written in, since it's txt and not osc
extension; but it's too limited, only provides a couple of CC's to the
joysticks and no choice of button modes.

I tried to run the action alt+shift+arrow nudge volume from a button on
the gamePad, but the button wouldn't continuously send nudge volume
messages when I held it down; only 1 nudge per press.

I found several translating VST plugs that convert gamePad controls into
really useful midi CC's and button modes, with sophistication; like
MiJoy Pro4; with a smooth mode ignoring the dead spot in the very middle
of a joystick's arc; so there's no hole in the middle when you sweep the
joystick from full left to full right; plus button modes like latched,
unlatched, toggle.
It's about 22 euros, worth it to get so much inplementation.
With it you can also run any old keypad; USB qwerty keyboard; virtually
anything that can transmit something; assigning a midi message to any of
its keys; including use of modifier keys.
Here's the perfect use of a little qwerty keyboard that came with a
computer, with absolutely even spacing between all its keys, so I can't
even locate its arrows or numPad.
With dots glued to its keys, it'll be perfect as a midi pad; and its
assignment will be not through Reaper, so maybe will avoid conflicts.
