Press alt+I to get the insert dialog.
Usually, the first selection is insert media.
Tab to browse to where you have an MP3, wav, whatever.
Press enter on its name when you find an Mp3.
Okay, it's now inserted onto its own track, but you need to assign an
output so it can be heard.
Tab to output of that track; and select whatever is there to play it,
even the default Microsoft synth built into windows.
Press enter to keep the setting.
Press W to rewind the MP3 file to its beginning.
Press spacebar to play or stop playing.
You should hear it now.
