[RWP] Newby

Yup, been driving me up the wall, but whenever I've been in the room
it's been go go go, so haven't had chance to do much practical
diagnosis of it.

It's running on a Macbook Pro, so yeah it's off the shelf, but not as
awful off the shelf as can be found. Happens in Reaper running via
Boot Camp, also happens in Pro Tools over on the Mac side of life. I
don't have Sonar installed to test it, never really managed to feel
comfortable enough to justify keeping that DAW around, but I'm pretty
sure it's not DAW specific.

I wonder whether the conversion from firewire 400 on the interface to
800 at the Mac end of the deal is causing it? Going purely on the
sound of it, I could easily believe it was a power related thing.
Kinda worrying if so, a blow out mid session would be bad. Is there a
better protected/safer way to do that conversion other than just using
FW 400 to 800 cables?

Latency is a good point, I had it set to 64 and didn't try changing.
When I'm back in there next week tracking guitars that's gotta be
worth a shot.
