I don't know what controller talks, except the software editor for the
Edirol or Cakewalk/Roland talks.
Well, the Cakewalk A Pro is the same thing, I think with some cosmetic
changes, but it still has rows of knobs, faders and 18 velocity and
aftertouch transmittings rubber pads, and the same nice stiff piano
keys; so I've read.
Unless you find an extremely low price on the Edirol PCR, because it's
out of production; I'd buy the latest Cakewalk/Roland incarnation of it.
Roland stopped supplying new assignment maps for it when it was called
Edirol PCR, but I think Cakewalk/Roland may be creating some current
maps for the A Pro controller.
I don't know the price, but I think the shortest keyboard; 32 keys, is
below $200 USD.
I like its key action way better than the Yamaha MM6 or Casio XW-G1 that
sit above and below it on my racks.
In many plugs; you can assign its not used piano keys to transmit
different midi data instead of the usual note on off, velocity and
aftertouch; as if they were just 32 extra panel buttons.
