You arrow up or down to select a track.
To select whether you record midi or audio on the selected track, you
need to display an extended track recording options menu.
This was broken in version 4, but there is a workAround.
First select the track, then press ctrl+up arrow; then press the
applications key.
I need to press ctrl+up arrow a couple of times until I hear Mixer
Dialog Volume; then when I press the applications key I always
immediately get that recording options menu.
Press down arrow once and you hearMonitor Input; and you'll be in the
correct menu for recording options.
In that menu; you can up arrow to reach the selections for Input Mono;
to record mono audio; Input Stereo, to record audio in stereo; and Input
Midi, to record a midi track.
You'll find very many other important options in that menu.

If you want to play drums that are on a VST plugIn, press the letter F
on the selected track.
You are immediately taken to the FX Chaining View, where you can load a
plugIn.
You should already be in the load dialog, so browse to where you keep
your plugs; which you should have set in preferences/VST PlugIns.
Once the plug is loaded onto the selected track, I assume you will play
the drums on channel 10, so set that midi channel and happily bang those
drums.

Hope this helps,
Indi
