[RWP] reaper fx window - the presets comboBox limitation

Yeh, I know what your sayin.
I would not get a mac for windows work these days as they've made changes to the hardware so the latest macs don't perform well in regards to dpc latency,
which is a critical element on the windows side of things,
in fact cakewalk doesn't support macs for that use anymore again on the window's side, but I would certainly use a mac for any native mac software that might become more accessible.
It's too bad we took a step back with mountain lion and pt.
I suspect though they just threw a bone to make the educators happy, but for the time being, I'll be getting another very nice machine from Jim Roseberry, if you haven't checked out studiocat.com
he's about the best in the biz, and understands our needs, and he'll do better than any of the so called daw vendors, sweetwater, adk, etc as far as price versus value,
he doesn't mark up his hardware, just charges a fair price to build a top rated machine.
Case in point, the i7 and the i5 I got from him, two work stations in the last year had dpc latencies in the single digits.
Average optimal dpc for most workstations is in the 30s,
The average off the shelf pc can be well in the hundreds or even in the thousands.
Dpc latency isn't
the be all and end all when it comes to daw performance, but it will definitely make the difference in you being able to run real time fx without having to freeze tracks.
One of my students got impatient and decided to have someone else do a rebuild on his system,
and he used to get in the teens on his dpc, and when he got his machine back from the other person, it was around 100 and all the projects he used to run didn't run so well any more, even the fairly light ones.
So sometime you should check that dpc on the mac, and see what your getting, the older macs before 09 do way better in this regard than the new ones.
And you can't tweak the bios on the mac because it's simulated by efi,
so no turning off hpet and other stuff they do to make things more snappy.
Anyway, that's how it goes in the windows world.

I am also running another machine that is my Mac with a Windows 7 Boot Camp partition. I also have the best of both worlds, and I am loving it. In these days, we need to have several tools to complete one job. I will be glad when we can just sit down at one machine and get the whole thing done without having to worry about what will or will not work for us.

Gf, I think that's the best combination considering the haltered re-access.
Xp, old as it is makes you compatible with many older dxi plugs which are accessible to us and for practical purposes, aren't less than all the latest and greatest stuff.
So after the big lightning strike that wiped out 4 pcs here, my next machine probably the last one I can do it with will have an xp build along with a 64 bit w7 build.
That way I get the best of everything.

Shift he has nothing to do with the amount of presets in a plug-in, but more the parameters with in the plug-in. I have plug-ins that have several hundred parameters in them from the shift Peaninew. I am also using windows XP professional 32-bit, NVDA, and reaper 32-bit version 3.78.
