[RWP] ReaAccess Question.

I don't find stumbling blocks in Reaper with ReaAccess, but that may
come from how simple I work.
Sometimes there are awkward and not speedy actions I'm doing, maybe
because I don't know the shortcuts I need.
Like; yesterday I had 10 tracks in a midi file.
I needed to assign each track's midi out to my hardware keyboard at the
tab key's track recording options.
Why couldn't I assign 1 and have the others be assigned.
I like improvements like that, but I don't think there's anything I
absolutely can't do.
Sonar takes a snapshot of current automation configurations, that would
be a nice feature, I think there is an equivalent in reaper, but I tend
to do automations, like pitch bend curves, or volume fades, on the fly,
or apply them on a separate track after recording, until I get it right,
an old fashioned way of working, but it give me exactly what I intend.
I'd do the same with opening or closing a filter, put that on a separate
track, so that is a sort of snapshot of an automation that I can either
keep or do over, without disturbing the track itself.
David Shortland found how to bring up Reaper's built in midi editor,
which provides very convenient and clearly labeled midi events per track
item, couldn't be nicer or easier, I think.
Quantization works as expected.
I've heard requests in Cockos forums for more choices of swing settings
in quantization, Jason Frankel will get round to that in time I imagine.
I suppose folks who feel the need for more access are used to what they
get in Jaws from CakeTalking in Sonar, but I'm a Wineyes user, plus
NVDA, so never had those scripts, and am used to encountering programs
raw, and I'm blissfully ignorant of what I'm missing from scripts.

Here are the things I really appreciate in Reaper as it is.
I can take a first time encounter of a VST synth or effect, load it and
immediately get all its parameters exposed at once.
Effects expose in the effects routing page, listed at either the tab
key, or the parameters combo box.
If I tab to a parameter, like a equalizer high shelf band, there is the
edit box with values waiting at the arrow keys.
The next tab down might be another equalizer frequency band, or maybe a
Q setting.

In VST synths; by pressing shift+P at the track view, I get a vertical
list of as many as 800 parameters, like in FM8,.
Yes, it's awkward to tab to the slider, to make changes, then tab back
to the parameter list again; and values are only shown as 1 to 1000,
but, if there is a change, I usually hear it as it soon as it's made,
no need to hit apply to hear the change.
Also, with Wineyes in effects routing page, I can sometimes immediately
find parameters on the VST synths interface, like yesterday, in
LinPlug's CronoX 3; screen scraping at the number pad; I found the
catagory of presets, like ambiance, gators, sequences, etcetera, and
clicking any division within that gets to the preset list in that
subdivision.
I'm still looking for the word Load on CronoX's interface, to load
samples onto as many as 64 keyboard keys, it's there somewhere.
I never had that much immediate plug interface access in Sonar; where
the interface's screen is cluttered with way more labels thatbelong to
Sonar itself, and not to the plug.
So far, I believe we have found 3 or 4 workarounds that let us keep
going as Reaper versions change and break what previously worked:
1. Jim Snowbarger found that hitting ctrl+down arrow, sometimes just
Page Down, causes reluctant FX parameters to display in the FX routing
page's parameter combo box.
Sorry, Jim, if I didn't get that right for use in Jaws, that's what
works for me, once you showed the way.
Jim also wrote scripts to allow immediate auditioning of media as you
arrow through them; Sound Forge style.

2. Roy Shtupler found ctrl+up arrow forces the reluctant applications
key context menu for extended track recording options to display.
There again, for me, ctrl plus two presses of up arrow works better.
3. David Shortland showed us how to get at Reaper's built in midi event
editor, when the previous ctrl+enter broke; and wouldn't displaying the
Reaper inline midi editor.
The built in event editor is way better than Reaper's inline editor ever
was.

So, it's a hodgPodge of workArounds, who cares, as long as it works?
I'm surprised that someone hasn't gone to Reaper's list of thousands of
unused actions and added more actions, with shortcuts, to ReaAccess.
ReaAccess is partly a bunch of standard Reaper actions neatly collected
in one place for us.
Of course, it's actually more than that; and I really value what Ivan
did to give access to Reaper's IO routing matrix; which would have been
impossible for us to use; and gave us a convenient dialog for IO routing.
Even without resorting to screenreader specific scripts, someone could
create an addendum to ReaAccess with a collection of Reaper actions and
shortcuts, maybe even default Reaper macros; that would speed our work.
