Stutter began way back in the hardware sampler era, in the nineties.
On any sampler; if you hit the keyboard key the sample begins to play,
right?
Well, if you have a word doghouse, but you don't let it play to the end,
but hit that key again, and again, you can make it say dog dog dog dog,
or if you hit the key even more quickly, it'll say do do do do, or even
d d d d.
in other words, it retriggers the sample from the beginning.
ReaSample is a very primitive sampler, but it's good enough to try out
the principle.
Sample a word or music phrase, then either retrigger it quickly by hand,
or make a midi track with repeated sixteenth notes that trigger the sample.
Somewhere in Reaper actions list you can find an action to make a note
trigger a sample.
Why not buy Steve Spamer's nice script, and do it with Izotope Stutter,
which will have many more options for different stuttering types?
