Hi Trahern and folks,
I'm working with Magix Samplitude for several years and perhaps I can give you some background information: the first thing you have to do after downloading and installing the demo-version, is to update the application to the latest release. Perhaps you need sighted assistance for this, but after the successful update the menus are accessible and you can activate a special visually-impaired-setup, located in the system-preferences, options, (I don't know the correct english title of the menu). Activating this setup will give you improved accessibility, so that most of the editing-functions, the levels, with limitations, the mixer and many of the onboard-effects are accessible. Nevertheless, there is still some work to do for magix, because most of the midi-features are perhaps usable, but not really accessible. I think, there's a good chance to get most of the programme accessible with time, because Magix is quite interested in implementing accessibility. Within the last years it was part of my job to talk to them, trying to convince them of the importance of an accessible DAW, covering all parts of production, including recording, editing, mixing and mastering. Meanwhile they are quite open for suggestions concerning accessibility and I strongly encourage you to write to them with your suggestions. André, the product manager is very friendly and engaged and the more suggestions they get not only from inside germany will lead to improved accessibility quite soon. There is also a part of there website, describing the activation of the visually-impaired-setup, but I'm not sure if it was translated to english yet. Perhaps I can forward Andrés direct e-mail-adress to the list, because he is the right one in the company for accessibility suggestions. I will do this tomorrow after contacting him. Concerning the midi-features we had a meeting two weeks ago. André told me to discuss midi-accessibility within the Magix-team, so I'm carefully optimistic. I'll also try to answer more detailed questions concerning accessibility and screen readers, but perhaps we should do this via PM, because it could be OT in this list, I'm not sure.
Best
Michael
