ey:
I used to use the mda vocoder. I still have a track I did of "Tell me somethin' good" by Chaka Khan that I do out live. I had a problem though, when playing back in realtime in Sonar, probably version 3 or something, it would work right, where I would only hear the processed signal, but when I mixed it down, it exported with my voice mixed in, which was not what I wanted. I have the tau vocoder, but since you're stuck with their carrier which is quite limited, you can't get that real resonant sound with filter envelopes and stuff. The ones in Pentagon and z3, which come with sonar, are a bear to wrestle with. So yeah, I'm still looking. A long time ago, Korg had a hardware one that really sounded good. And of course there is the one in the motif xf and my alexis Ion synth, which I've never even tried.
