Yeh I know,
it's always scarey stepping out in to new territory,
Jim assured me changing out the fw card always solved the problem in all cases where there were incompatibilities.

  Thanks Chris.  Having just got my builder to install an FW card in 
  the new machine for a Mackie Onyx interface, I find your words 
  enormously reassuring.  You know, that fear you have that, as soon as 
  you buy something new, with inevitably limited knowledge, you fear 
  that you may have made a terrible mistake, (or I do at any rate), a 
  mistake which will be obsolete tomorrow. I should get the new machine 
  in a day or two.
