[RWP] chopping up samples in reaper

Sure, Insert the sample onto a track.
Select the track that contains the sample.
Select the item on that track with ctrl+sshift+right arrow.
Position  your cursor at the end of the material you want to include in 
the first item.
Press S for split.
You get 2 items now, item 1 with the material from the beginning to 
where your cursor was positioned, and item 2 from there on to the end of 
the sample.
If you want to either split item 1 or item 2 into smaller sections, 
select item 1 or item 2 and repeat the procedure for the selected  item.
