[RWP] Issues with adding effects

hie all i would like some help please because i'm having some issues with adding effects firstly in the dialogue where you go to add effects most of the time the combo box appears blank this also happens to combo boxes in the effects plug ins windows in addition to this the space bar is supposed to press buttons and activate checkboxes however when i press the space bar it just plays and stops the track as if i was still in reapers mane window also when i have gone thru the effects adding process  sometimes the effects do not  appear to  be on the tracks does any one know how to solve these problems? your help with this matter would be most welcome kind regards trahern.
