I don't own one, but I have heard the roland interfaces, duo, tri and quad
captures are very good.
Roland has always made pretty good gear.
If you want a truly hands on, blind friendly experience, with a completely
accessible control pannel, the very best are the mackie onyx i series
interfaces.
They run with firewire, which is lower latency than usb, and there are no
menus, it's a real board married to a good quality audio interface, and the
smallest one the 820i clocks in at about 4 bills.
More than you might want to spend, but you get a lot of bang for the buck,
instrument high z inputs, line inputs, good pre-amps, talk back, a host of
i/o options, I own the 1640i which is grand.
I get full 16 channels going and comming from the daw, the little guys only
give you one return from the daw.
My whole studio is tied to this marvelous board, and it allows me to run
just about anything anywhere.
Anyway, you can draw and quarter me and boil me in oil, but I'll never,
never, never deal with one of those damned inaccessible software interfaces
again.
It's too bad the delta cards got short shift with windows 7 and avid,
because they were pretty decent, and you could always use a fold back with a
couple snakes and a decent board, which i did for a while.
But now if you want just straight i/o you got to go 3 grand with lynx or
higher than that with prism or benchmark, etc.
Everything is either super low end junk, or high end, all the middle stuff
has kind of gone away.
