[RWP] pasting

Yes, you've made perfect sense thanks. I've got to the bottom of it thanks to your help. What was happening was that the imported audio had loop on. The difference was that when hitting control left to select the item, it was saying 1 loop item, instead of just 1 item as it does with recorded audio. Not sure why at this point but the newly imported audio with loop on seems to offer a different set of buttons when tabbing, and one of them is loop on/off. Turning it off then allows for copying and pasting. I'll have to investigate the preferences to see if I can stop it from automatically setting it to loop on. Thanks for your help. Wouldn't have figured it out otherwise.
