Since David Shortland solved how to get into midi event list editing,
there's no real impediment I've found to access in 64 bit Reaper.
I now run 64 bit Reaper 4.31, with NVDA , with tab and arrows only,
never need to use the num pad cursor to look at screens, once audio and
midi devices are Enabled.
For anyone who didn't get David's method, here it is:
1. Select the track and track item.
2. Press ctrl+alt+E to open built-in editor.
3. Press alt+V to go to View submenu; then arrow to Mode Event List;
then press enter.
Once you have selected Mode Event List, Reaper remembers that it is
selected, and it remains selected after you exit Reaper.
4. You now get the midi event lists at your arrow keys. You are getting
note positions along the time line, so each up/down arrow move; in NVDA;
takes you to the next note along the time line.
For each note position, you hear the event list at that position read.
5. When you find a note you want to edit, press ctrl+F2, which displays
that note's event list at your tab key.
As you tab, you hear the title of what you're tabbing to.
6. Here's some of the details of The event list:
As you tab, you find 1 type, 2 position, 3 Length, 4 channel, 5 Note
Type, 6 Velocity, 7 OK, 8 Cancel, 9 Apply.
Type is set to note by default.
7. While tabbed to type, arrow up/down to the various types: 1 Note, 2
Poly AfterTouch, 3 Control Change CC, 4 Program Change PC, 5 Channel
AfterTouch, 6 Pitch, 7 Song Select, 8 Mixed.
While tabbed to Type; then arrow to Control Change CC; for instance.
You then get a sublist at the tab key:
You hear 1 Control Change CC Collapsed, 2 Position, 3Channel, 4
Controller; where at the arrow keys you get an edit field with the
controller number; 5 Value; with an edit box at the arrow keys; 6 OK, 7
Cancel, 8 Apply.
While tabbed to Controller; for instance; at the arrow keys you get a
long list of CC's, from 000 to 127.
Some of these controller types have several selections with the same CC
number, to set various choices as to what you want that CC message to
do, like change attack, sustain, assign to sliders, use the LSB Least
Significant Bype, MSB Most Significant Byte, too complex to list here,
but it's an extensive list.
Each edit field at your arrow keys is pretty much what you would expect
for that type of event.
If anyone gets different results in other screenReaders, please post
what you find, and what your workArounds are; okay?
