[RWP] Playing a selected part of a wave file.

I understand, I will try this using reaper version 4.2 and my current jaws version which is version 9.

  David,
I got this to work with reaper 3.77, but not in the latest 4.21.
So, I am still trying to figure that out.
But, I had to stop at the beginning of the desired selection, and press alt+leftBracket, then alt+rightBracket, all at the same position.
I had to do that first, or this doesn't work.
then, move to the other end, and press alt+rightBracket.
At that point, the space bar plays only the selection.
But, I'll explore further because, as I say, this isn't working on the other version, but I'm also using jaws 13 and windows 7 on that machine, so there are lots of variables.

Hi Jim, I'm unable to replicate your success in playing a portion of a selected wave file. This is what I am doing and if it is incorrect perhaps you can put me right.
1 Define the length of the selected portion of the file with alt plus left bracket and write plus write bracket, and then pressing space to listen to the selected porsion of the file. No such luck for me.
Sound forge, I always use the bracket keys when selecting the portion of a file and it has never failed. As you said, the I and O keys don't always work for various reasons.
    Best wishes David.

David says that, once you have a selection established, alt+space bar skips over the selected material.
I expected that to mean similar to control+k in sound forge, to audition a deletion.
But, it seems to just start playing after the selection, and doesn't play any of the data before the selection.
So, it's not really an audition cut.
Too bad about that. Would be nice.

Can any one please help. I want to play the selected part of a wave file in reaper just as you can do in sound forge and sonar.
There are a number of ways to select a portion of a wave file in reaper but I don't know how to simply play the selected area of the file using a key command. I know that Alt plus space bar will skip over the selected material and that it is possible to hear the selected material by pressing the set repeat key, but I only want to hear the selected part of the file played once. If any one knows how to do this could they direct me to the right key command.
        Best wishes David.
