At the risk of stating the obvious, the midi file is only control 
information, nothing to do with sound.  The sound will come from 
whatever the midi file is pointed at.  So, if the file is playing 
your keyboard's internal sound generators, the sound will come from 
its speakers, or whatever its audio output is connected to.  If the 
sound is coming from a VST, software loaded on your computer, then 
that software will be generating the sound, which will play through 
your sound card.
