This was a proposed solution to the question: How to play a selected
part of a wave file in Reaper.
It's not saying you must close Reaper, then open Sound Forge to play a
part of a wave file, but play the file without leaving Reaper.
The instructions let you select a part of a wave file, pop into Sound
Forge without leaving reaper, play the file, then pop back into Reaper
and continue working.
Press ctrl+P to go to (Options > Preferences) and the very last item is
> where you setup Reaper to open a wave file in the wave editor

setup to open wave file on double click or a right click ; will pop up a

> you can select open wav in audio editor.
Ctrl+Alt+E will do the same.
