[RWP] Has any one been able to use Rea-Control

Your help would be apriciated. I have been trying to use the ReaControlMIDI (Cockos) with the Rea-sample plugin but to no effect.  I want to effect the pan and volume when playing the Rea-sample player.  I have tried inserting the ReaControlMIDI (Cockos) as an instrument before the sample play and after as a plugin. 
Can anyone please advise.
