The fact that Creative is showing up in your audio device field,
probably means you once had a Creative card in there, a Live or Audigy
2, any model, those Creative drivers aren't always removed after
uninstalling the program; and can cause problems
You should find the word Disabled after Creative, and the word Enabled
after M-Audio or AudioPhile.
I'm not sure how much trouble they cause for an AudioPhile, but they'll
wreck any Creative family member, like the Emu cardsI installed later in
my old music computer.
It's good to get rid of lurking old drivers anyway, all useless old
programs only clog the works and slow up the computer.
I'd do a computer search with the words creative, or Sound Blaster, or
Asio, and delete anything the old soundcard.
Be sure it's not your AudioPhile asio driver, of course.
If your Audiophile is correctly reporting its unavoidable latency, and
the option in audio device is checked to let reaper compensate for that
reported latency, you can get down to very minimal latency, under 5 ms.
Even after taking care of those settings, there are still more that can
be made if needed.
None of us need to use all of Reaper's thousands of possible settings,
they're there just in case, but otherwise default settings should be
left unchanged.
Toward the bottom of the options preferences audio device are offset
settings; so Reaper automatically offsets any amound of latency you
enter there.
you can try entering numbers in those edit boxes, I seem to remember
they are milliseconds with a dash or minus sign ahead of them, with the
result that all your audio tracks align exactly.
AS to issues with Reaper version 4.15, if menus don't drop, when you
press the applications key, press ctrl+up Arrow, first; then press the
applications key and the menus will appear.
